Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Solitaire extension.

Installing is easy and takes about 10 seconds:

  • Click the "Add to Chrome" button on this page or visit the Chrome Web Store
  • On the extension page, click the green "Add to Chrome" button
  • In the confirmation popup, click "Add Extension"
  • The ♠ Solitaire icon will appear in your Chrome toolbar — click it to play!

If you don't see the icon immediately, click the puzzle piece 🧩 icon in your toolbar and pin Solitaire to keep it visible.

Yes — completely free, forever. There are no:

  • In-app purchases or premium tiers
  • Subscription fees or trial periods
  • Advertisements or sponsored content
  • Account creation requirements

The extension is a passion project offered to the community at no charge. We intend to keep it that way.

Yes! The Solitaire extension works 100% offline. Once installed, it runs entirely within your browser with no network requests whatsoever. You can play on a plane, a train, or anywhere with no internet access.

The only time you need internet is during the initial installation from the Chrome Web Store.

Classic Klondike Solitaire rules:

  • Goal: Move all 52 cards to the 4 foundation piles (♠ ♥ ♦ ♣), built in ascending order from Ace to King
  • Tableau: Cards are built in descending order, alternating red and black colours (e.g. black 9 on red 10)
  • Kings only can fill empty tableau columns
  • Stock pile: Click to draw cards to the waste pile. When the stock is empty, click again to recycle the waste
  • Double-click any face-up card to auto-send it to the foundation if it's eligible

Yes! You can drag an entire sequence of face-up cards from one tableau column to another. Simply click and hold on the topmost card in the sequence you want to move, then drag the whole stack to its destination.

The game will only allow valid moves — if you try to drop a stack in an illegal position, the cards will snap back to their original location.

Currently, closing the extension popup ends the current game. When you reopen it, a fresh game is automatically dealt.

Game save / resume functionality is planned for a future update. If this feature is important to you, please let us know via the contact form below — user demand helps us prioritise features.

The Solitaire extension requests no special permissions beyond what Chrome automatically grants to all extensions. Specifically:

  • It does not read your browsing history
  • It does not access any web page content
  • It does not communicate with any external servers
  • It only runs in its own popup window — completely isolated from your browser tabs

See our Privacy Policy for the full details.

Uninstalling takes two seconds:

  • Right-click the ♠ Solitaire icon in your Chrome toolbar
  • Select "Remove from Chrome..."
  • Confirm by clicking "Remove"

Alternatively, go to chrome://extensions/, find Solitaire, and click the "Remove" button. The extension leaves absolutely nothing behind when uninstalled.
